Today's New York Times (3/28/07) reports that in fact Burger King is joining in the 'Greener' Revolution by announcing their going to kill their birds and pigs in a more humane manner. This is good. It's also a sign of things to come in the industry as things 'green' up, or otherwise become more conscscious and humane. Now, instead of being wholly boxed in closed cages and crates, Burger King is going to 'start' buying eggs and pork from suppliers that do not confine their animals in cages and crates. This is a start: The goal is for 2% of its eggs to be "cage free", and for 10 percent of the pork it buys to come from farms that allow the pigs to have some semblance of a 'humane life' in the form of being able to move around, inside pens of course, rather than being strictly confined to crates their whole lives.
